Jules Gastambide founded the Antoinette company with Leon Levavasseur and Louis Bleriot as vice president. The company primarily manufactured engines for speedboats and aircrafts but soon ventured in the aircraft design and manufacture, which prompted Louis Bleriot to leave the company as he disagreed over the new strategy.
