Until the outbreak of the war it was customary to present the most efficient cadet at Sandhurst college with a sword, but this custom was abandoned at the request of Queen Elizabeth who is presenting a miniature sword of silver to the No 1 Cadet, A.H. Taylor. Looking on at the graduating exercises are the 2 British Princesses (future Elizabeth II and her sister Margaret), stadning behind their mother.
