Charles Gilbert was an instructor at the Moscow and Odessa Polytechnic Institutes. The second photo shows Gilbert's room in the barracks. The last photo has an embossed photographer stamp in Moscow (See close up scan)
Gilbert most likely owned the balloon A Kathyn used for the instruction of his students as he will later use it for private flights and record breaking attempts.
